"It is widely believed that catfolk were originally created either experimentally or with aesthetics in mind, potentially both. They are a bit of a mixed bag, making it difficult to determine their true nature. They can both be very active or doze most of the day away. They can be either solitary or live in small communities. One feature that can be agreed upon is their universal curiosity and they can be fairly easily distracted. Records also show that they generally tend to be friendly towards everyone they meet. Exceptions exist, of course, and it's not safe to assume this to be true with every catfolk one might encounter.
Catfolk seem particularly interested in other human subspecies, especially in the differences between them and their target of interest. Why, when I arranged to meet up with one to get more first-hand notes the adorable thing wouldn't stop trying to chase my tail! I was quite entertained as this went on and I can see why people often like them in return.
These behaviours have made the catfolk quite reliant on the help of other people to survive, although they make exceptional hunters. Some ranger organizations even seek to specifically have a good number of catfolk working for them!"
